Thoughts and ideas on how to build tools, automate workflows and speed-up the workplace.
What is API integration is probably one of the most common questions in the world of web app development. In fact, this is central to how almost all modern software ecosystems work, so it’s vital that you know what you’re dealing with. See, businesses today deal with a greater number of tools, data sets, and services than ever before. Managing this fact requires a high degree of integration. That is, all of these different nodes in our tool stack need to be able to talk to each other in order to pass data or other instructions back and forth - otherwise we’d face a mountain of boring and expensive admin work.

Application transformation is one of the most ubiquitous tasks for IT teams in large organizations. The unfortunate reality for many enterprises is that old, outdated software makes up a huge proportion of their internal tool base. This creates a huge number of technical and operational challenges. Chief among these is the fact that your internal processes are based around tools that aren’t up to modern standards. In turn, this hampers your processes’ efficiency, security, productivity, accuracy, and ultimately profitability.

Digital enablement has been a bit of a buzzphrase for quite a while now. The only trouble is that it can be a bit of a challenge to understand what anyone actually means by this. See, there’s a lot of chatter out there but a lot of it is fairly nebulous. As in, there’s a lot of fluff and not a lot of substance. This is a shame because digital enablement remains one of the most underlooked aspects of modern ops management.

ACID compliance is one of the most fundamental data management concepts that you’ll want to get to grips with. In fact, this is so ubiquitous that you not have paid it much attention before - to many people, it’s just the way databases work. Of course, this isn’t quite the case. Not every database adheres to the ACID model. Indeed, not every use case would benefit from this. Therefore, we need to know what we’re dealing with in order to make an informed decision about what’s right for our app project’s data model.

Grid interface Currently in Beta Manage your data as easily as a spreadsheet — add new columns and rows, filter, sort, and inline-edit with just a few clicks. The power of a database and the usability of a spreadsheet are an exciting combination that will provide productivity gains for all users. The new Grid interface is currently in beta. It currently only works with the internal database and Datasource Plus connections (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Google Sheets, and others).

Since the launch of our platform, we have always aimed to make our pricing model as simple as possible and perfectly tailored to your needs. On the 2nd May 2023, we are taking a giant leap towards that goal by introducing our new pricing. Goodbye day passes Day passes were introduced to provide a granular approach to pricing that closely aligned with usage. However, after receiving feedback from users and customers, we have found that this model is confusing and difficult to predict.

Knowing how to build a dashboard is one of the core competencies for most knowledge-based jobs. Dashboards are the difference between raw data and clear, actionable insights. Most of us can pull up a couple of pie charts based on a spreadsheet - or even use a visualization platform like Looker to create basic reports. But what happens when your business data doesn’t fit neatly into one of these tools?

On-prem vs cloud hosting is one of the most fundamental decisions for any IT team - both at the level of individual development projects and your wider IT ops. Getting this right will have an outsize impact on your profitability, performance, security, compliance, and much more. The trouble is - this is a widely misunderstood issue. At least, there are a lot of outdated or just downright wrong assumptions that pervade the conversation here.
